Historical background
The Zhytomyr Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded at the end of 1960's as an expert organization (Bureau of Expert Expertize as part of the USSR Chamber of Commerce and Industry). In 1989 the Region Bureau was reorganized into an affiliated organization of "Kyivzovnishservis", that was part of the USSR Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The ZCCI was founded in 1995 as an independent body on the basis of and through reorganization of "Kyivzovnishservis".
The Chamber acts in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, art. 3 of the Presidential Decree No. 357/94 from July 4, 1994 "On the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine"; articles 5.1-5.5 of the UCCI Statue; its own Statute adopted in accordance with the law of Ukraine "On Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Ukrane" from December 2, 1997.
